Section Report:
Our Society chapters were extremely active last month featuring offerings from Dr. Mukta Farooq an IEEE EDS Distinguished Lecturer and GlobalFoundries Fellow, who gave a technical lecture about 2.5D/3D Integration Technology. Dr. Jeff M. Byers, offered an interesting discussion on Machine Learning as applied to complex data as part of the Computational Intelligence offering. The Communications Society offered a discussion by Dr. Chiman Kwan who guided attendees through a discussion on unmanned aerial vehicles and control issues relating to loss of communications.
The Computer Society partner events focused on Fedramp and the Cloud Computing Commercial offering approval process, featuring Mr. Matt Goodrich and Mr. Michael Carter; Program Risk and Identification and Remediation and the technology that drives results, featuring Ms. Laurie Wiggins; and a Design Application Workshop utilizing elements of creativity research, featuring Ms. Janet Cook.
Additionally, our Women In Engineering affinity group offered a virtual mentoring session, where Ms. Domini Clark, Ms. Hanna Sicker, and Ms. Nicole Gray offered attendees career enhancing tips, techniques, and tools for their ever expanding professional development toolkit.
Lastly, the section sponsored the 2-day IEEE Smart Tech Signature event in Arlington, VA, featuring a plethora of informative and interesting sessions on Systems Engineering, Cyber Security, Big Data, IoT, and Technologies for 5G.
