Dr. Kisselburgh will speak about what electronic privacy does and does not mean today, trends, and current and pending changes and policies in electronic privacy.

Dr. Lorraine Kisselburgh is currently scholar in residence at the Electronic Privacy
Information Center (EPIC), and a visiting lecturer in the Center for
Entrepreneurship, fellow in the Center for Education and Research in Information
Assurance and Security (CERIAS), and former professor of media, technology, and
society in the Brian Lamb School of Communication at Purdue University. She began
her career in computer science, with over 20 years as chief information officer for
a large college before moving into academia.  

Her research focuses on the social implications of emerging technologies, including
privacy, ethics, and social interaction in technological contexts. Her research has
examined the implications of data mining, GIS, and locational data privacy; social
relationships of individuals with strong privacy concerns; gendered, generational
and cultural differences in privacy attitudes and behaviors in social network
contexts.

She currently serves on the executive committee of Association of Computing
Machinery’s (ACM) US Technology Policy Committee (USTPC), as chair of the USTPC
Facebook and Data Privacy working group, and on the ACM Task Force on Code of Ethics
and Professional Conduct.  At EPIC, she is coordinating the development of
University Guidelines for Artificial Intelligence, a framework grounded in human
rights protection.
