MOVE Virtual Operations Class – Part 1 of 3
MOVE Virtual Operations Class – Part 1 of 3
MOVE is offering a 3-part, Virtual, Operations Class. This class is required for everyone interested in deploying on MOVE-1 or MOVE-2 truck or has a general interest in the program. It is required for new MOVE members and recommended as a refresher for those that have previously taken it. We discuss what to expect when deploying, what equipment is on the MOVE trucks and several safety procedures when working around the trucks. This is a virtual class that is broken up into 3 required 2-hour sessions. Now that MOVE has two trucks, differences between the trucks will be discussed. If you took this class prior to August 2022, there will be new material due to the 2nd truck differences. This is a 3-part virtual class. - Part 1: 30 Oct 2023 from 8:00-10:00 PM ET >> https://events.vtools.ieee.org/m/376696 - Part 2: 06 Nov 2023 from 8:00-10:00 PM ET >> https://events.vtools.ieee.org/m/376698 - Part 3: 13 Nov 2023 from 8:00-10:00 PM ET >> https://events.vtools.ieee.org/m/376700 There will be a test after the third session - material will be provided for the test. Enhancement in Model Predictive Control Technique for Multilevel Converters
Enhancement in Model Predictive Control Technique for Multilevel Converters
This seminar discusses an advanced approach for the multilevel drive system control using Model Predictive Control (MPC) applied to the dual T-type advanced topology. The study is performed while the converter feeds an open-ends induction motor (OEIM). The MPC scheme is developed to balance the DC link capacitors, reduce/mitigate the (common-mode voltage) CMV, and control the machine torque simultaneously. The proposed technique for MPC reduces the number of redundant switching states used in computations without affecting the operating voltage vectors. This reduces the computational time substantially. In addition, the proposed control strategy mitigates the weighting factors tuning problem. MATLAB simulation results for the proposed drive system under different case studies are presented. Hardware experimental setup for the proposed converter is built, tested, and verified. A comparison between experimental and simulation results is presented. It is observed that the theoretical as well as the experimental results are in full agreement Speaker(s): Dr. Aboubakr Salem Room: Library, Bldg: Leonard C. Spin-orbit torque-induced switching of perpendicular magnetization in a magnetic layer with a vertical composition gradient
Spin-orbit torque-induced switching of perpendicular magnetization in a magnetic layer with a vertical composition gradient
Current-induced spin-orbit torques (SOTs) are of interest for fast and energy-efficient manipulation of magnetic order in spintronic devices. At the meeting the speaker will review bias-field-free SOT switching in a single perpendicular magnetic layers with an engineered vertical composition gradient. The vertical structural inversion asymmetry induces strong intrinsic SOTs and a gradient-driven Dzyaloshinskii–Moriya interaction (g-DMI), which breaks the in-plane symmetry during the switching process. The phenomena could have implication on development of ultrafast SOT memory arrays. Coping with Trauma, Healing PTSD using Biosensor Technologies
Coping with Trauma, Healing PTSD using Biosensor Technologies
Traumatic events alter the body and the brain. Severe intrusive memories are a perpetuating clinical symptom in posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD). In this talk, Dr Nil Gurel of Meta Reality Labs, will discuss a novel, electroceutical intervention that stimulates the vagus nerve non-invasively, with no side effects. Her research has combined noninvasive sensors and signal processing to develop digital biomarkers to guide PTSD treatment. The results were found to be sufficiently compelling by the FDA to accelerate the use of non-invasive vagus nerve stimulation (nVNS) as a treatment for PTSD through the Breakthrough Device Program, which speeds the development of medical devices for the more effective treatment of life-threatening or irreversibly debilitating conditions.
