You would also need to have the Arduino IDE along with the ESP32 libraries installed on your computer. Topics: In this talk, you will learn how to: - Install Mosquitto MQTT server on your computer. - Configure Mosquitto MQTT server for anonymous access. - Install an MQTT Dashboard on your smartphone. - Create an ESP32 program to communicate with your Mosquitto MQTT server. - Create two buttons on the MQTT Dashboard to turn on or off an LED connected to your ESP32. - Create an ESP32 program to read data from a DHT11 humidity and temperature sensor. - Configure the MQTT Dashboard to display the temperature from the DHT11 as a gauge. Speakers' Bio: Dr. Saeed Jellouli has a Ph.D. in Electronics Engineering from Blaise Pascal University in France. He was awarded several scientific prizes by the French government for pioneering work in the behavior and modeling of electric arcs in the air. He joined DeVry as a full-time faculty in 1998. It is deeply shaping the lives of communities, women are extremely sensitive to these changes given their lack of access to essential resources such as land, finance, or information, and also affects food security, nutrition, clean water, health, and livelihood. In particular, remotely habitant women, children, the elderly, people with disabilities, ethnic minorities, and other disadvantaged groups bear the brunt of climate change due to the social inequalities that limit them. Climate change, in turn, widens the social and economic space, trapping communities in a vicious circle. This webinar will focus on how women can be empowered for tackling climate change, especially by using their knowledge, skills, and abilities to adapt and mitigate climate change. Large Scale Generator Interconnection Processes and Challenges
With the United States' ambitious renewable energy goals, the demand for large-scale (>20MW) generator interconnection (GI) services has increased significantly, leading to longer interconnection queues and longer wait times for developers. Understanding how large-scale projects are studied in the interconnection process is crucial for developers, policy makers, and other stakeholders involved in the renewable energy sector. Transmission Service Providers (TSPs) are responsible for studying and evaluating large-scale generator interconnection requests to ensure the safe and reliable integration of new energy resources into the electric grid. TSPs use a variety of technical studies to evaluate the impacts of large-scale GI requests. These processes and technical studies can vary by region and can significantly impact the feasibility of a renewable energy project. This presentation will provide a high-level overview of the interconnection processes for large-scale generator projects in the United States. We will explore a variety of different study practices, including those in MISO, PJM, SPP, ERCOT, and TSPs in the Western Interconnect. The presentation will also touch base on challenges TSPs are experiencing with the volume of GI requests in queues across the country.
