In July, the IEEE R2 WIE (Women in Engineering) hosted a webinar on renewable energy, which is energy that is collected from renewable resources and are naturally replenished. The discussion was on geothermal energy. In this webinar, the lecture and discussions will be on another type of renewable energy, solar energy. We are honored to present our esteemed speaker, James "Jim" M. Daley, P.E. who will discuss how IEEE got involved and led the development of consensus standards for the interconnection and interoperability of distributed energy resources with the electric power system (EPS). This presentation will summarize the evolution of IEEE 1547 and include the results of the application of this standard on a residential solar system and a EPS solar farm. 1 Professional Development Hour (PDH) credit is available to IEEE members only. Region 2 Committee Meeting 2022

This meeting is for Region 2 Volunteers (Section Chairs or designees and appointed and elected R2 Committee). The meeting shall include volunteer training, section updates and committee member reports. IMPORTANT NOTE: IEEE at all levels continues to monitor the ongoing pandemic and its evolutions. At this time statistical indicators all lean towards March being relatively safe for the vaccinated. Region 2 will require social distancing during our meetings, observing both local ordinance and best practices for the protection of all. Consistent with this, we require that ALL attendees be fully vaccinated and able to show proof of same if requested. If the intended Section delegate or other attendee is not vaccinated, please select an alternate who is, and have them attend. There will be no exceptions. MOVE Virtual Operations Class – Part 1 of 3

MOVE is offering a 3 part, Virtual, Operations Class. This class is required for everyone interested in deploying on the MOVE truck or has a general interest in the program. It is required for new MOVE members and recommended as a refresher for those that have previously taken it. We discuss what to expect when deploying, what equipment is on the MOVE truck, and several safety procedures when working around the truck. This is a virtual class that is broken up into 3 required 2 hour sessions. Now that MOVE has two trucks, differences between the trucks will be discussed. If you took this class previously, there will be new material due to the 2nd truck differences.
