The research and standardization for each future mobile service was initiated many years before its commercial launch. In 2019, 5G Networks began to be deployed commercially after almost ten years of planning. Similarly, the race for the 6G wireless networks that will be operational in 2030 has already started. To fulfill its potential in the upcoming decade, 6G will undoubtedly require an architectural orchestration based on the amalgamation of existing solutions and innovative technologies. Several standards bodies including 3GPP, ITU, IEEE, IETF, Next G Alliance among others and various research projects, open source consortiums, and forums around the world are working towards the evolution of next generation of network. The upcoming ACM/IEEE Next G Summit is the first one in the series aimed at research, development, and standardization of Next Generation networks (Next G). The summit will be held face-to-face at Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Lab, Laurel, Maryland on June 14. This one-day summit will provide a platform for the industry leaders, innovators, and researchers from the industry and academic community to collaborate and exchange ideas in this emerging technology that may help in driving the standards and rapid deployment of Next G. Co-sponsored by: IEEE Future Networks, JHU/APL Agenda: The ACM/IEEE Next G Summit will focus on the following topics. - Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning - Human Bond Communication Beyond 2050 (Knowledge Home) - Communication, Navigation, Sensing, and Services (CONASENSE) - Ultra-Massive Multiple Input Multiple Output Antennas (UM-MIMO) - Optical wireless communications (OWC) - Core Society 5.0 - Quantum Computing & Communications - Security as a Service - Zero Trust - Blockchain Orchestration - Deep Space Communication - Non Terrestrial Networks - Open RAN - Spectrum Sharing - Deployment - Digital Divide - Tera Hertz Communication - Autonomic Computing - Network Slicing - Mobile Edge Cloud - Experimental Testbeds - Assured Autonomy Room: 201-117, Bldg: Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory (JHU/APL), 11091 Johns Hopkins Road, Laurel, Maryland, United States, 20703, Virtual: https://events.vtools.ieee.org/m/315260

Distributed Energy Resource Interconnection and Interoperability with the Electric Power System

Virtual: https://events.vtools.ieee.org/m/321777

In July, the IEEE R2 WIE (Women in Engineering) hosted a webinar on renewable energy, which is energy that is collected from renewable resources and are naturally replenished. The discussion was on geothermal energy. In this webinar, the lecture and discussions will be on another type of renewable energy, solar energy. We are honored to present our esteemed speaker, James "Jim" M. Daley, P.E. who will discuss how IEEE got involved and led the development of consensus standards for the interconnection and interoperability of distributed energy resources with the electric power system (EPS). This presentation will summarize the evolution of IEEE 1547 and include the results of the application of this standard on a residential solar system and a EPS solar farm. 1 Professional Development Hour (PDH) credit is available to IEEE members only. Please use "Special Requests" on the registration to indicate this.
