Learn to Code with ChatGPT

Virtual: https://events.vtools.ieee.org/m/382043

Large Language Models (LLM) such as ChatGPT possess knowledge not only about human languages but also computer languages. It is now possible to introduce programming basics through ChatGPT. This is a workshop activity in which the participants are invited to join an interactive adventure into the world of LLMs and learn how to code with ChatGPT as a copilot. In this interactive, hands on session. the participants will take a guided tour to see live actions of generative Al tools such as ChatGPT in code generation and problem solving. If participants have a second screen and good internet access, they can follow along and learn coding in their own OpenAI accounts. Otherwise, they can watch the live interactive session and contribute their own ideas about how to guide the AI to help with coding. Python and other programming languages will be used, although no prior programming experience is required Co-sponsored by: ACM Baltimore Chapter Speaker(s): Chang Liu, Agenda: 6:30 PM Welcome and introduction 6:35 PM Presentation 7:20 PM Q&A 7:30 PM Conclude Virtual: https://events.vtools.ieee.org/m/382043

Room: 222, Bldg: Kennedy Union Building, University of Dayton, Dayton, Ohio, United States, Virtual: https://events.vtools.ieee.org/m/387832

Abstract: What is intelligence / artificial intelligence? What is knowledge and where does it come from? Where are we and how did we get there in AI? What is the interest of the USAF/USSF in AI? What are the current best practices to ensure ethical employment of AI enabled Autonomy? How will AI impact humanity over the next several decades? What is consciousness and is there a path to sentient computers? Why would we want to create sentient computers? Speaker(s): , Dr. Rogers Room: 222, Bldg: Kennedy Union Building, University of Dayton, Dayton, Ohio, United States, Virtual: https://events.vtools.ieee.org/m/387832

The Intellectual Heritage of Babylonian Mathematical Astronomy: Music of the Spheres

Virtual: https://events.vtools.ieee.org/m/385680

This talk introduces the mathematical methods of Babylonian astronomy in the Seleucid era (c. 300 BCE) including cyclic networks of regime-switched piecewise linear iterated maps. These ancient methods foreshadow modern approaches to chaotic dynamic systems and may be related to periodic recurrent neural networks with piecewise linear activation functions.
