Abstract:

This tutorial will cover the application of small (or miniature) circuit breakers for industrial applications. The training session agenda will focus on the following topics:

 Circuit Breaker Basics:
   Definitions
   Overcurrent vs Overload
   Inrush Current
   Introductions
   Branch Circuit Protectors vs
   Supplementary Protectors

    Circuit Breaker Types:
        Thermal
        Magnetic
        Hydraulic Magnetic
        Electronic

Circuit Breaker Technology:
    Thermal
    Thermal Magnetic
    Hydraulic Magnetic
    Electronic

Trip Curves Explained:
    Trip Curve differences
B Curve vs C Curve vs D Curve

    Custom Trip Curves
        M1, F1, SFB

Circuit Breaker Application:
    UL 489 Circuit Breaker Applications
    UL 1077 Circuit Breaker Application
    Hydraulic Magnetic Circuit Breaker Application
    Electronic Circuit Breaker Application

Other Considerations:
    Circuit Breaker Temperature De-Rating Factors
    Circuit Breaker Series Ratings
    Circuit Breaker Coordination Ratings
    Calculating Cable Lengths

If time permits, there may be some discussion on fuse applications for I&C cabinet/industrial applications
