Transmission Planning Speaker Series

April 27, 2023 @ 21:00 - 23:00

Learn more about topics in transmission planning by visiting Duquesne Light Company, the electrical utility for most of Allegheny and Beaver County, including entirety of the city of Pittsburgh. Presentation topics to include reliability analysis, load-flow, and contingency analysis, and transient and dynamic-stability analysis. Presentation to discuss limitations and needs for an electrical utility remaining within acceptable operating conditions. Presentation to discuss overview of the steady-state operation of the transmission system (evaluated at a given instance). Considerations include the ability to meet load requirements and account for both scheduled and also reasonably expected, unscheduled outages. Further, presentation to discuss analysis of dynamic performance and the frequency and phase synchronization of the transmission system immediately after an event (milliseconds to seconds).
