Excellence, Cybersecurity, and Risk – Building on the Baldrige Excellence Builder to Lead Organizations Forward

January 19, 2017 @ 22:30 - January 20, 2017 @ 01:00

As industries and organizations struggle to come to terms with the sheer breadth of the Cybersecurity Framework and work towards implementation of the NIST Risk Management Framework, NIST’s recently released DRAFT Baldrige Cybersecurity Excellence Builder provides an effectiveness assessment and related guidance to help them build a more robust path forward. The Baldrige Excellence Builder provides an approach that categorizes cybersecurity risk-related concerns in pertinent organization and process components for prioritization and remediation. Dove-tailing with the heightened focus on cyber programmatic risk, an independent research and analyses effort led to the development of the Program Risk ID (PRID) tool. The tool further identifies and defines organizational and project cybersecurity risk in a highly comprehensive risk framework which can be used to further inform the Baldrige Cybersecurity Excellence Builder’s advocated for self-assessment or as a standalone effort. A full cross-walk between Baldrige Excellence Builder categorical risk areas, the comprehensive PRID risk framework, and the applicable organizational roles these comprehensive programs are geared to will also be provided.
