The National Capital Chapter of the Vehicular Technology Society (VTS) is jointly sponsored by the Northern Virginia and Washington Sections of the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers. Membership consists of approximately 250 active and retired electrical and mechanical engineers, managers, and other professional people interested in rail transportation issues associated with new equipment development, system and hardware design, communications, management concepts, system planning, etc.
The VTS has been meeting on a regular basis since the 1970s with a current average attendance of approximately 25 members. The meetings are held in the headquarters of the American Public Transportation Association (APTA), 1300 I Street, NW, Washington, DC. Non-members are welcome and encouraged to attend. Students with a valid ID are entitled to a free lunch as guests of the Chapter.
