VTS: The Track to the Transforming Rail in Virginia
1301 I Street NW, WashingtonVirginians for High Speed Rail (VHSR) is a non-profit founded in 1994 to educate and advocate for the expansion of fast, frequent, and reliable passenger rail service connecting Virginia to destinations up and down the east coast. Among their accomplishments over the past several years is expansion of Amtrak Northeast Regional service to Norfolk and Roanoke, increase in the frequency of rail service, and acquisition of part of the Richmond-Washington railroad right of way by the Commonwealth of Virginia. But that's just the beginning - they have bold, ambitious plans for continued growth and expansion of passenger rail. Danny's presentation will discuss past successes and goals for the future -- both the positive news and challenges that they face.
