Professional Activities Committee (PAC)

What is PAC and how can it benefit IEEE members?

Being technically proficient is only part of what it takes to become successful in the ever-changing global economy. More and more companies are beginning to recognize the added benefits of improving their workers’ professional development skills and are opting to provide increased training for it. IEEE-USA is also aware of this increased need and is working to provide seed funding for professional activities in addition to increasing awareness of existing programs.

PAC (Professional Activities Committee) is a grassroots network of IEEE volunteers and committees organized at the section and chapter level in the United States with support from their respective regions and IEEE-USA. The goal of the PAC Network is to promote the professional interests of IEEE’s U.S. members as well as provide a mechanism for communication of members’ views on their professional needs. IEEE-USA’s success is attributed largely in part to all the hard work out forth by volunteers from the PAC Network.

Who can organize a PAC event?

You! We need ideas and Project Managers.

How do I submit my event for approval?

  1. Submit your project request form to the Dayton Section PAC Chair using the PAC funding request form.  Chapters (ex. PEAL or Computer Society) use the Chapter Form. Initial forms and Final report forms are located here: http://www.ieeeusa.org/volunteers/pace/funding.asp
  2. Once you obtain approval for funding, creating a meeting notice on vtools:  https://meetings.vtools.ieee.org/main
  3. Choose “Professional” for the type of event.  You do not have to use vtools for RSVP function but it is a useful tool for that as well.
  4. After event, submit the final project form to the Dayton Section PAC chair (available at the link in step 1) and create an L31 meeting report using  the vtools meeting  system.
  5. Submit final approved project form and completed L31 meeting report notice to Dayton Section Treasurer for reimbursement of approved expenses.
