Date: Sunday, March 13. 12:00 to 6:00pm

Where: Dayton Convention Center

For the first time in three years, Big Hoopla is coming back to Dayton! IEEE-USA is a proud sponsor of the Big Hoopla STEM Challenge and needs your help to volunteer and make an impact in kids’ lives!

The STEM Challenge is a free family event for kids K-8 that ties together the excitement of college basketball and the power of STEM education. IEEE-USA and other regional and national partners will be on hand to engage kids with hands-on science, technology, engineering, and math activities.

At the IEEE-USA booth, kids will learn about electricity by making their own simple take-home LED flashlight. We need several volunteers to join John Yaglenski, IEEE-USA Director of Communications, from 12-5pm to help kids build their flashlights and see the joy on kids’ faces as they see their LED light up for the very first time! Please sign up to volunteer today.

To thank you for your help, each volunteer will receive two tickets to a First Four basketball game on either March 15 or 16. These are the games which kick off March Madness and are sure to be especially exciting this year! On the volunteer sign-up form, please indicate your game(s) preference.

If you’re an IEEE member who is not able to volunteer at the STEM Challenge but would still like a chance to receive free tickets to a First Four game, click here. Note that volunteers receive first choice of ticket date and seats. Any extras will be allotted to non-volunteer registrants.

As a proud Silver Sponsor of Big Hoopla, IEEE-USA is also contributing 80 tickets to military service members and their families.
