DC Rolling Stock High-Speed Circuit Breaker Technical Presentation
March 28 @ 8:30 am - 9:30 am EDT
The IEEE Vehicular Technology Society (VTS) Philadelphia Chapter is holding a virtual meeting using Microsoft Teams titled, DC Rolling Stock High-Speed Circuit Breaker Technical Presentation. Mr. Oleg Goureev, Component and Systems Manager, and Mr. Martin Bussiere, Business Development Manager, Rail Segment North America, ABB Electrification Products, are our guest speakers. ABB will give a presentation on their latest DC rolling stock high-speed circuit breaker called DCBreak. It is a medium-voltage high-speed bi-directional DC circuit breaker for rolling stock application power supply up to 1800 V, 1500 A, with a breaking capacity of 30 kA. The DCBreak circuit breaker family for rolling stock combines a small footprint, reduced weight, high flexibility and reliable operation with minimal maintenance. It is ABB’s first in a line of new products intended for the direct current railway transportation market. It is designed to high safety standards as well as relevant environmental directives and industry standards. Engineered with flexibility in mind, it is as easy to implement in new builds as well as retrofit into existing ones, and its simplified design makes for reduced maintenance time and costs. This technical presentation will also discuss AC and DC train line relays, contactors, and 1000 V dc miniature circuit breakers for distribution systems on buses and rail cars. Attendees may apply for 1.0 PDH upon completion of lecture. Certificates will be provided through the IEEE Certificates Program, accepted in all states. PDHs are provided at a cost of $5.00 per certificate. Send payment to Brandon Swartley via Zelle at email@example.com. Evaluation forms must be completed online to obtain PDH certificates at https://r2.ieee.org/philadelphia-vts/forms/ Payment and evaluation form must be completed within one week after meeting.
